Vacancy description
Wadkins Associates is currently working on an exciting opportunity for a junior Associate (1–3 PQE) to join a highly regarded, international disputes practice specialising in shipping, commodities and trade matters in London.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-growing firm with a strong reputation in complex, cross-border disputes. The practice is widely recognised for its work across the maritime and commodities sectors, advising an international client base that includes traders, shipowners, charterers, insurers and financial institutions.
The team focuses primarily on dry shipping and commodities disputes, with a broad caseload spanning charterparty and bill of lading disputes, cargo claims, trade finance issues, GAFTA/FOSFA arbitrations, and High Court litigation. Much of the work has a multi-jurisdictional element, often involving parallel proceedings and coordination with overseas counsel.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers on high-value, complex matters, gaining hands-on exposure from an early stage. The role offers significant responsibility, client interaction and the opportunity to develop expertise across both shipping and commodities disputes within a collaborative and commercially focused team.
Applicants should be qualified in England & Wales with between 1–3 years’ PQE, currently working at a well-established and reputable maritime or disputes firm. Candidates should have experience in dry shipping and/or commodities or trade disputes, along with strong academics, sound technical ability and a proactive, commercially minded approach.
This is a standout opportunity for a junior lawyer looking to build their career within a specialist international disputes practice, offering high-quality work, early responsibility and an excellent platform for long-term progression.
