Wadkins Associates is currently instructed on a compelling opportunity for a Senior Associate (5+ PQE) to join a leading international disputes practice specialising in commodities, trade and shipping matters in London.

 

This is a standout opportunity to join a highly respected and entrepreneurial firm, recognised for its deep sector expertise and strong presence across global commodities and maritime markets. The practice is known for advising on complex, high-value disputes with a significant cross-border dimension, acting for an international client base including major commodities houses, traders, shipowners, insurers and financial institutions.

 

The team has a particular strength in commodities and trade disputes, regularly handling matters arising out of GAFTA and FOSFA contracts, trade finance issues, and complex contractual disputes. In addition, the practice is well-versed in dry shipping matters, including charterparty, bill of lading and cargo claims. The work frequently involves international arbitration and High Court litigation, often running in parallel with proceedings in other jurisdictions.

 

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a highly regarded leading partner in the field, providing exposure to some of the most sophisticated disputes in the market. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing cases, mentoring junior lawyers and maintaining strong client relationships, with clear scope for progression within a growing and ambitious team.

 

Applicants should be England & Wales qualified with 5+ years’ PQE, currently practising at a well-established and reputable disputes or maritime firm. A strong background in commodities and trade disputes is essential, with additional experience in dry shipping highly advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent academics, strong technical ability and a commercially focused, proactive approach.
