Our client has deep roots in the shipping industry. They have grown over the decades to be a key player in the ship management sector. To ensure generational competence, they are looking to hire an experienced counsel to ensure regulatory compliance and manage the legal risks of the group.
You will be working closely with the General Counsel in ensuring the planning, implementation, compliance and improvements of the various company compliance policies. Part of this will be managing the counterparty registration system and ensuring that any restricted, sanction or prohibited entities will be screened and reported to management.
Your other day to day tasks includes negotiating and reviewing the various commercial contracts of our client. Examples of these contracts include charter party agreements, ship building contracts, novation agreements and service contracts. You will also be monitoring KPIs and generating the necessary reports and updates.
You will have at least 4 years PQE as a lawyer in private practice or in the compliance department of a company. You must also be qualified in a common law jurisdiction. Any experience with compliance or shipping law would be desirable.
